To set up your leave request rules, go to the admin page and look up the rule in the search:

To create a leave request, click on '+Add':

You will be able to set up 3 types of rules:

  1. Approved automatically

  2. Denied automatically

  3. Requires approval, i.e. the leave request will remain in pending status until an admin makes a decision whether to approve or reject the leave

Please note that "Denied" automatically takes precedence over all other rules.

"Requires approval" rules take precedence over Approved automatically rules.

A rule relevant to a user must exist for them to apply for leave.

For each type of rule, conditions can be configured in line with the requirements of handling leave. For example, some sites would want to have the leave requests for their consultants to be automatically approved, whereas for registrars to be requiring approval.

Such rules can be created by selecting the action to be done from the drop down menu and applying it to the role:

If you like to apply the rule to multiple roles, toggle on the 'advanced mode', select the condition from the drop down menu. In this case, select role.

Both roles would now apply to the rule:

Some sites have certain conditions that require advanced mode to configure their rules. An example is: A leave request requiring approval for consultants if the request is within less than 2 days from submission, and if there are less than an 'x' number of other consultants on leave.

Using our advanced mode, this rule would be set up as follows:

These conditions are applied from the drop-down menu through the advanced mode:
