Feature Summary
Communication lists let you email or SMS a predefined group of users by selecting a list with a single click.
When to Use This
• You need to contact the same group of people regularly by email or SMS.
• You want to create common distribution lists (e.g. 'cardiac anaesthetists' or 'nurses who want to work on the weekend').
• A HosPortal administrator needs to create lists that can be shared with other users, or that allow people to self-subscribe.
• You need to control list visibility using one of the following types:
– Private: only you can see and use the list. If you do not have administration permissions, your lists will always be private.
– Shared: visible and usable by all HosPortal users at your site with access to the Direct message page.
– For subscription: all users can see the list and can subscribe or unsubscribe at any time.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Create a Communication List
1. On the Direct message page, click the Communication lists tab, then click + Add.
2. Enter a name for the list.
3. Select the recipients.
4. If you have administration permissions for messaging, select the list type:
– Private: only you can see and use this list. If you do not have administration permissions, your lists will always be private.
– Shared: visible and usable by all HosPortal users at your site with access to the Direct message page.
– For subscription: all users can see the list and can subscribe or unsubscribe at any time.
5. Click Save.
Manage Subscriptions (Subscription Lists Only)
1. To subscribe or unsubscribe, change the Communication list subscription directly on the Direct message page.
2. Alternatively, change subscription settings under the Communication subscriptions tab on your site Profile page.
