Rather than just two types of roster (Call and Allocations), rosters can now be allocated to one of any number of roster groups. These help manage rosters that need to be seen or managed together. You can have as many of these as you want, with their own name and settings.
Roster groups can be set up with some default settings, such as:
If the shifts are normally shown with a location. Previously locations were only shows on Allocations.
If there are standard session times, like AM and PM. Previously these session times were only available to Allocations.
Previously some functions, such as self-rostering and on-screen statistical reporting, were only available to Call. They are now available to any roster groups.
Shift structure
No matter the shift, every shift can be defined by:
An optional shift name, such as 'General surgery' (A). Previously this was only in Allocations shifts.
The time that the shift takes place (B), such as '18:00 to 08:00' or 'PM session'
An optional location (C), such as 'Theatre 1'. Previously this was only in Call shifts.
The staffing requirement for the shift (D1 and D2). This can be multiple people of different types if required. In this example the shift regularly requires a Consultant (D1) and there is an ad-hoc requirement for this shift to also have a Registrar (D2). Each of these staffing requirements is called a 'slot'
Rosters
HosPortal now groups every shift into a roster. Previously only Call shifts were part of a roster (e.g. '1st call' or 'General Medicine Registrar Day Shift'). Now it is possible to group any shifts together under a roster and see them on their own, even if the shifts happen at different times on different days. The screen shot below is showing only shifts on the General Surgery roster.
