Adding a payroll period

A payroll period defines a payroll period for given roles, and allows work rules that apply over payroll periods as well as needed for timesheets

A payroll period can have several purposes in HosPortal.

  1. for creating work rules - such as limiting the number of hours or shifts a user can do per payroll period

  2. for showing payroll periods on the roster page

  3. for timesheet generation

To create a payroll period, on your 'Admin' page, search for 'Payroll periods':

Click on the +Add button (A). A pop up window will appear with three mandatory fields to set up your payroll period:

Name (B): what you wish to call your payroll period, for example "Junior pay period"

Frequency (C): The interval of your payroll cycle (e.g., every 1 week, 2 weeks, or once per month).

Start date (D): the date that payroll period starts - the date it starts is important as this determines its start and end day of week as well as its cycle.

You can create as many payroll periods as you want in HosPortal, and you can distinguish between them by applying each payroll period to a role (E):
