How to Apply a Pattern to a Roster

Initiate the Shift Creation Process

  1. From the navigation menu, select the roster you wish to apply the pattern to (e.g., On Call).

  2. Click on Edit on the top right-hand side.

  3. Locate the roster name and click the three-dot ellipsis (...) next to it.

  4. From the dropdown menu, select Create shifts from pattern. The Create Shifts from Pattern modal will appear.

Configure Pattern Details and Date Range

In the Create Shifts from Pattern modal, you will define who and when the pattern should be applied.

  1. Role: Select the required role from the dropdown menu (e.g., Anaesthesia Consultant).

  2. Select pattern: Choose the pre-configured pattern you wish to apply (e.g., 1st On-Call Pattern 1).

  3. User: Select the specific user who will be allocated these shifts.

  4. Under Dates, select the Custom radio button to define a specific period.

  5. Set the Start date (e.g., 02/11/2026) and End date (e.g., 15/11/2026) for the pattern application.

    • Optional: You can use the Offset fields to skip or delay the start of the pattern cycle.

  6. Under Include pattern when, check the appropriate boxes for any conditions you want to override existing rules (e.g., Shifts already filled or User is on leave).

  7. Under Pattern shifts that will be created for this user, choose how to handle existing draft or published shifts that are not part of the pattern you are applying.

Review and Publish Shifts

  1. Review the Display roster groups section at the bottom of the modal. This area displays a preview of the specific shifts and activities that will be created for the selected user across the date range.

  2. Once you have confirmed the preview is correct, click the Publish or Draft button.

The shifts will be immediately created and published or drafted to the roster, according to your selected criteria.
