On 14 February 2026 the NSW government announced that there would be a new public holidays for Anzac Day this year, to be held on Monday 27 April.

Because of the late notice of this holiday and the risk of confusion, HosPortal will not add this holiday automatically for NSW customers for 2026.

If you want to cater for the public holiday you will need to add a 'site holiday' on that day. You can then determine what you want to do with the activities and shifts on that day independently.

The usual instructions for adding a site holiday are in the link here.

When you change the holiday status of a day, you will be asked to confirm the changes to the published and draft shifts on that day. Depending on your roster structure this may change the shifts on that day:

  • remove activities (e.g. remove your daytime clinical/surgical allocations), or

  • change activities (e.g. change a 12-hour on-call shift to a 24-hour shift), or

  • add new activities (e.g. add extra day shifts).

These changes may then require re-staffing people.

You should receive a list of the shifts that will change, similar to the image below:

Note that you can make the holiday apply to specific roster groups and not others ('Affected roster groups' in the screenshot above). If you leave the selection blank the holiday will apply to all your rosters.
