A supervision rule (a "supervision setting") tells HosPortal which staff need supervising, who can supervise them, and the conditions that count as supervision. HosPortal then flags supervised staff on the roster and matches a supervisor automatically where it can.
On your Admin page, open Supervision settings, then click Add.
Give the rule a clear Name and optional Description, and set the Start date (and optional End date) over which it applies.
Then complete the two panels:
The following users will be supervised — choose users with roles (and optionally narrow by skills) or pick specific users, then set which shifts it applies to. You can add Tag, Type or Time filters to narrow it further (for example, overnight only). See Supervision rules: who needs supervision for detail.
The supervisors need to be — choose the supervising roles (optionally with skills) or specific users. Then set on shift of to define what counts as supervising: Same roster group, Same roster, Same shift, Select roster, or No shift. Finally choose the time condition — Same day as supervised user or Overlap supervised user. See Supervision rules: who can supervise for detail.
Click Save. A few things worth knowing:
If only one eligible supervisor exists for a shift, HosPortal assigns them automatically.
Rules can be created retrospectively and will apply to shifts that are already published.
Deleting a rule removes the supervision requirement from all shifts it affected.
