If you don't want to receive certain messages from HosPortal sites, you can create "mutes" from your profile page. Note that some types of messages can override mutes, in particular, for direct messages administrators can elect in emergency situations to "override" users communication preferences.
Steps
go to your profile for the particular site by clicking on your name at the top right and choosing "profile"
click on "communication" mutes from the left hand menu
Click "add mute"
choose the kind of communications you wish to block. If for example you did not want to receive direct message SMS make the changes shown in the screenshot then press save:
