Navigate to Patterns

  1. From the navigation menu, click Admin.

  2. Under Settings, click Patterns.

  3. Click the + Add pattern button on the top right of the Patterns list page.

Define the Pattern's Core Details

The Add pattern modal will appear. Complete the following fields to establish the pattern's fundamentals.

  1. Name: Enter a descriptive name for the pattern (e.g., Pattern 1).

  2. Description (optional): Add a brief explanation of the pattern's use.

  3. Mandatory (toggle): Use this switch if the pattern must always be applied to a user's roster.

  4. Length: Enter the numerical length and select the unit (day(s) or week(s)). This defines the cycle duration (e.g., a length of 1 week(s)).

  5. Start day of week: Select the day the pattern cycle begins (e.g., Mon).

  6. Roles: Select one or more roles that this pattern applies to (e.g., Anaesthesia Consultant).

  7. Click Save.

Configure Pattern Templates

After saving the pattern, you must define the specific shift or activity template for each day within the pattern cycle.

Add Templates to the Pattern

You will be taken to the View pattern page, which shows a grid with one row for each role you selected.

  1. For each role row displayed, click the Create templates (...) button under the week view.

  2. In the Create shift template modal, you will define the activity:

    • Under Select rosters, select the roster the shift belongs to (e.g., Cardiac).

    • Optional: Under Select shifts (optional), choose the specific shift to apply (e.g., 1st Call). If no shift is selected, the roster name will appear as the activity.

    • Optional: Use the Add a Filter option to further refine which days this template applies to.

  3. Click Save to apply the shift template to the pattern row.

  4. Repeat steps 1-3 for any other shift or activity you need to define for that role's pattern cycle.

  5. Click Exit on the View pattern page to return to the Patterns list.

Note: A single pattern can contain multiple templates to represent different shift types or activities within the defined cycle (e.g., Allocations, On Call, Duty). You can also edit existing templates after creation.
