Welcome to HosPortal, Australia's leading hospital rostering, on-call, leave management and communication software. This article give a brief overview of what most users need to know to get started.
Devices and browsers
You can access HosPortal from a web browser from any device connected to the internet, such as a phone, tablet or laptop. We recommend the latest versions of the Chrome browser, but any up-to-date browser should be sufficient, such as Safari, Firefox or Microsoft Edge.
HosPortal does not support Internet Explorer.
What you can see - your Dashboard
HosPortal is designed so that most of what you need is available from your Dashboard immediately after you log in.
Your view is customised to show only those activities relevant to you: shifts and allocations you are assigned to, and activities you are eligible to see or participate in.
If you are at multiple HosPortal sites you can use the site selector to see each site separately, or see all of your activity together.
You can change your preferred view settings, such as viewing as calendar view or list view, and turn on and off types of activities, for instance to show on-call shifts but hide events.
Other things to see
If you want to see the calendar of clinical allocations and on-call lists showing other users, navigate to the relevant roster page. Often these pages are called 'Call', 'Allocations' or 'Roster'.
Note that not all menu items are visible at all hospitals. Each hospital uses HosPortal in different ways. Some features described in our help guide may not be enabled at your particular hospital, so you may not be able to see them, such as:
clinical allocations and unallocated sessions
ability to swap and transfer shifts
leave/vacation management
the shift marketplace
SMS messaging
auto-invoicing for paid shifts
Each user's access rights may be different, too. So you might be able to see or amend parts of HosPortal that other people can't, even within the same hospital.
Getting started
We recommend that you get started with the following articles:
Viewing rosters and changing view settings
Using the Direct message page to communicate with other users
Managing your shifts: swaps, market, and self-roster
If shift swaps and the shift market are enabled at your hospital:
Using the shift market: placing your shifts on the market and using the market to pick up and swap shifts with others.
If your hospital is using the self-roster feature: Participating in a self-roster process.
